Overview

THE GRASSY MOUNTAIN PROJECT

The Grassy Mountain Project (the Project) is located 6km north of Blairmore and will produce 4.5 million clean tonnes of steel making coal per year. The Grassy Mountain site has been disturbed from previous mining activities; the last mine in the area was abandoned in the 1960’s.

Aim: The intention of the Project is to develop a steel making coal mine on Grassy Mountain to ship high quality steel making coal to overseas steel producing markets. The Grassy Mountain coal mine would provide significant economic stimulus to southern Alberta and the local region, in particular the Municipality of Crowsnest Pass, MD of Pincher Creek and the MD of Ranchlands, as well as to the neighbouring communities to the west (e.g., Sparwood, Elkford and Fernie). Riversdale is working with the provincial and federal governments along with local stakeholders to ensure Grassy Mountain is a world-class, sustainable project.

Environment: Riversdale is committed to responsible development. We will minimize environmental impacts through the use of modern technologies, a sustainable approach to mine design and progressive reclamation; effectively returning the area in an improved state.
