Summary: The Maintenance Manager will be a critical member of the operational planning team responsible for determining final specifications on mining equipment and the selection of suppliers and contracts.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

Reporting to the General Manager, the Maintenance Manager will be a critical member of the operational planning team responsible for determining final specifications on mining equipment and the selection of suppliers and contracts.  Additional responsibilities include working closely with the Project Director to manage maintenance operability in mine design and construction, as well as focusing on operational readiness preparation.  Once the mine is into production, responsibilities will focus on operational maintenance and optimizing effective maintenance programs.  Duties include:

  • Define, plan, develop and implement effective maintenance strategies for all phases of the Grassy Mountain project and associated budgets.
  • Ensure that costs are effectively monitored and within budget parameters
  • Maintain up to-date maintenance plans for all phases of the development
  • Ensure correct maintenance programs and procedures are implemented
  • Be accountable for safety, health and environment activities by integrating SH&E initiatives into planning, decision making, systems and processes
  • Ensure that all strategies drive towards first in class performance
  • Ensure adequate manning levels of suitably skilled employees

Wage:

Salary range of $176,000.00 to $220,000.00 per annum based on a 40 hour work week. Up to 30% performance bonus conditional on performance, 2 to 4% annual merit adjustment conditional on performance.

Education:

College level diploma/certificate in Maintenance Management

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 10 years’ progressive related experience in Maintenance positions in the mining industry, including;
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience supervising/coaching Maintenance team in a managerial capacity;
  • Demonstrated production operational experience;
  • Proven understanding of all aspects of an open pit mine processing operations;
  • Demonstrated experience having successfully managed the development of a greenfield mine site from operational readiness through to full production;
  • In-depth knowledge of mining equipment and suppliers; including multiple haul trucks, hydraulic excavators and shovels;
  • Strong fiscal control orientation;
  • Strong problem-solving, leadership, and communication skills;
  • An adaptable change agent; able to assess and develop strategy for implementation of process improvements; and
  • Excellent negotiating skills.
